Eligibility for the Dream Beyond the Finish Line program 9-week summer session is open to all rising sophomores, juniors and seniors currently enrolled in the Dream Beyond the Finish Line Program; selection is based on a combination of staff and school recommendations, a student’s record of attendance during the prior program year and the extent of his/her participation in all aspects of the Dream Beyond the Finish Line program. The summer program has a singular focus – to provide participating students with sufficient additional resources to enable their applying “early decision” or “early action” to a college or colleges of their choice.

During the summer session, students come four times a week (Mondays through Thursdays) for 6 ½ hours of college counseling, academic advancement and SAT prep (taught by instructors using the Khan Academy Platform), essay writing (the goal being to draft a “personal statement,” required as part of the college application), exploration of the Great Books and communications skill building. Instruction for interviewing skills, improvisation, situation role playing and other types of self-expression, which are all intended to help students better express themselves in front of others is also included.

After the academic day is complete, the students are offered two hours of training time on the track.

The summer program ends with an awards banquet for all students and parents.
